Gibraltar stamps

Don't have, must say, had any stamps from Gibraltar. Now I deed receive a nice cover with 4 stamps "Millennium" of Gibraltar. Small British enclave at the south of Spain. Not in Spain, maybe later in history. Did they not "lose" Hongkong too? Nice stamps with two planes and also a Trafalgar(1805) stamp with HMS Victory, don't know if the name stand also for the result.

Perfins

Maybe you know perfins. In the old day's of the first stamps they were very valuable. Sometimes a hour wages or so. Also you could pay with them. So they were very interesting by people who worked at great or smaller firms. An Englishman, Joseph Sloper, got the idea to make wholes in the stamps. He developed a machine which not could make wholes but also letters into the stamps. So firms perf ther stamps and make them only good for their own mail. England has over 30.000 different types of perfins. We in The Netherlands have about 800 different marks.

Why I tell you ? When I soak of a lot of old stamps yesterday.( smells like old papers..) I found some Dutch stamps with perfins or Poko's. Show them to you, and will start to get all the perfins I have get together....New topic for me ??? Who knows.

Happy he is no chicken

The Kingdom of Redonda, till today never heard of. A "real"kingdom in the Carribian Sea, near Antiqua. When you look at the map of Redonda you see there is also a "post office" . Maybe nobody lives there but stamps they have. I mean pictures which look like stamps. Show you this nice picture because I am happy that Walt Disney did not take a chicken for his drawings and stories. I would have a lot more room to collect all the stamps with the famous Ducks on them. Save this "stamp"for a member of our club, he collect elephants on stamps, maybe he likes this one. Second possibility is to add it to my space collection...

Balloon stamp and tabs

Very nice stamp from Spain. Issued 22th March 2006. It is a serie of sports who are on the edge of the nonpossible. That is a TV program in Spain. How to collect these stamps and tabs. Do we call them tabs or cinderella? One stamp and 3 ???. It is good that you have to pay € 0,28 for this nice block. Also gives a nice picture. They where on a very nice cover with also some more of these kind. On the € 0,29 stamp you see moutainbikers on the Pyrenees, very nice if you collect bikes...

DDR Chickenstamps

Today got a serie from the DDR (23 january 1979.) The first 5 stamps you see more than the last one. In the DDR the stamps with the highes value were issued in the lowest quantities. Normal, because you need less of them. The first one , Chabo( Japan Bantam), 15.000.000 stamps, the last one Italianer with streeps, 2.100.000 , and had to get. I also did not have that stamp till now.
Most of the issues in the DDR are CTO stamps, think some of these are not.

windmills

Very nice cover from Ángel, Spain. If you know the story you understand the title of today. If you have "situations" with the govnerment or so and try to get your right it could be like our friend Don Quijote de la Mancha did find on his way', traveling around.

Chickenstamps

Today some nice covers from Spain. One with three "chickenstamps" Must find out what the rooster on the Diario Palentino stamps has to do with that newspaper. Fundado en 1881 it says on their site. Estabished in 1881 . A lot (all) Spanish there and that's what I don't understand. Could order a beer(or two) and asked for the bill in Spanish but that's it. (Only the most important words as you see....)

The other stamp needs also studying whats about. Very nice these for me - new- stamps. Thanks. Have to soak them off, even it's a very nice cover.

Club meeting

Saw today's paper with the article of our local Globe Stamp Club. My picture is not that quality to show you........ Maybe another picture of this meeting will come soon here. Nice article about a small stampclub and how people did start with their collection. Some of the conclusions: Collection is also looking for stamps for friends or members; it's a grey world; brings a lot of fun and knowhowe,-where, -what and -who. Thanks to The Gelderlander for the picture......

Chinese Year of The Pig

September 18th, start of the Chinese New Year. They have the year of the Pig, see my earlier writing and very nice Mini Sheet of Canada. Now a lot of states give issues of stamps, or CTO’s or cinderella’s to celebrate this new year. Also Indonesia will issue some stamps for this Pig Year. However they will not show a pig because in Islamitic lands they find pigs unclean. Now they have a lot of Chinese people in Indonesia, even celebrate the New Year of the Chinese since 2000 as a national holyday. But why stamps for the year of the pig if there is no pig involved? Hope there is a rooster (some like this picture) in that issue, could be, not? Looking forward.

Do I have any value here?

Modern Stamping

Some nice stamps from Denmark. You see it more and more, stamps from a machine. Do you need one stamp, no person can help you, but therefore we have machines now. Like these stamps more than those we have here in The Netherlands. BTW read an article that our TNT Managers think it's better that we have Holland on our stamps in stead of The Netherlands....better for the sales.....Do you agree with this?

Chickens on stamps

Did went to my stampclub yesterday. Nice evening with a new system for trade. Several members put in stockbooks with stamps. All stamps € 0,05 each. We had about 13 books with stamps to circulate. I did find some nice stamps, also one chickenstamp I did not have from Romenia. Also got a chickenstamps from a member, they all look for chickenstamps....

This member collect Elephants on stamps, so if you have one... let me know..

Also we have some members of the local press. ("De Gelderlander") They make every week a story about "clubs" there are in Gelderland, the province I live in. They take some pictures and interviews. Next Friday I show more about this, hope the picture will be good...!!

Also bought a box full of stamps/envelops and more, mostly USA, need more time....

Year of, month of, week of, day of

You know them, all kind of of's. Year of the Children, or day, Year of the Rooster, Labourday, al the day's and years of our life do have a name. Even we have stamps for remembering and sometimes to mail letters....Here a very nice MiniSheet of the year of the pig. Look carefully, only one stamp in it, or is the whole sheet a stamp too?. As you see there is also a Dutch cancellation/printing on the stamp/envelop. Needed to find it's way to my house.

Painters and famous too.

When I was sort out a few stamps I came into these two. Who is Mary Cassett I wondered.
Then our www is very handsome to find out. A painter, and famous too. Not for me, but who am I to know every famous person on this globe. The text below is from the www.

Mary Cassatt was a famous painter because she did wonderful paintings. She spent most of her time in France living and painting there. She was born May 22, 1844 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania and she died June 14, 1926. She was 82 when she died. Her mom's name was Katherine, her dad's name was Robert, her sister was Lydia and her brothers were Alexander, Robert and Joseph. She loved children. She and her family traveled a lot. Her parents sent her to Art School she loved it. She painted mothers and children. She used members of her family for her paintings. They were great!

Time to make plans for the holiday's. Not so difficult.

They have nice stamps to promotion their country to go for your holiday's. Or am I wrong ?
Indeed only inside promotion, or are these stamps for 20 gram letters also for abroad?

Wonderful Covers

Today three nice covers with nice stamps on them on my doorstep. Russia, Canada and Australia. Very nice things on and in them. Show an envelop from Alexander. We don't have such nice printed covers. Only cheap white envelops in the shops with no body. Maybe a market for them in The Netherlands....?? On the cover two stamps showing the empire-sword and shield. You can find them , and more, in the Kremlinmusea, Moskow. They existed 200 years in 2006, thats why there was an issue on 2006-03-06 with stamps, minisheet and sheets.

To breed or not to breed

Did saw a nice powerpoint presentation to day. It is called double pictures or so and shows what you can do with Photo-Shop The last picture of it is one I like most. I am collecting eggs now from my silky chickens to breed them later. Maybe into two weeks I like to start with that. (At that time I will have other more fresh eggs...)

But when I see what can happen with that eggs......... I have to consider the whole thing...

If you want to see the whole PPS mail me.

Colours

When you collect stamps and you are also colourblind you have a sitiation. Did find these Dutch Trixins (free by machins!!) in my collection. These are no two issues in different colours. Just one did stay to long in the sun or so. On ANSC there was= a discussion about scanning stamps. I think that scanning is not a problem, but our nice sun is. Not for us, we need it badly, but some stamps are not happy with sunlight. Could not say if this one was in the sun, maybe it happens with soaking or ??? The same stamp, you know what is the right colour?
